Front-End Software Engineer: Skills and Intangibles

YOUR DAY IN THE ROLE

You would be doing front-end (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) engineering using Next.js and React to serve beautiful product experiences to our end users. You would help shape and sustain the front-end layer of our digital presence, working on both legacy and new web and apps projects that support Desiring God's mission and content delivery.

You’ll also work directly with our GraphQL API, which connects to a Ruby-based CMS, to query and render content throughout our front-end applications.

WHO YOU ARE

A creative engineer that loves building beautiful interfaces, capable of building from scratch when needed, who holds themself to a high standard in all areas of work.
Deep familiarity with the usual suspects: JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, and HTML, along with fluency in building modern user interfaces using React and Next.js.
Some familiarity with unusual suspects such as Ruby on Rails and file formats like epub, mp4, pdf, and more.

YOUR FUTURE TEAM

You would be joining an engineering team of four other engineers.
The Product team at Desiring God is responsible to deliver user experiences with our products, resources, and teachings with undistracted excellence. Product includes the Creative team, the Engineering team, and the video Production team.
As part of our current 10-year vision, we are developing a solid and healthy independent technical platform that enables ongoing, biblically faithful worldwide proclamation of truth.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE

Ability to adhere to our affirmation of faith.
Able to legally work in the United States without sponsorship.
Desiring God is a hybrid workplace, preference for this role is local to Minneapolis, MN.
