Job Description
Are you like a MasterChef preparing foie gras on the French riviera when you have your code editor open and headphones on? If so, this role might be for you because we’re looking for someone who can not only make the most delicious dishes (exceptionally clean code *chefs kiss*), but can also serve a full restaurant every night (get features launched on time, e’rytime).

We’re looking for someone with deep technical knowledge in Front-End Engineering—a React & React Native sensei. Your dreams are in CSS. You eat Front-End frameworks for breakfast. And you’ve demonstrated your abilities repeatedly over your career. You operate best in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Other developers look to you for best practices. You’re code is simple, easy to understand, and follows principles of programming. You are someone who wants to keep your hands on the keyboard, and lead from the front(end). If you have an eye for detail, a love for design, and a core competency for coding—you will love this role.

This position is for one of our Venture products: Apollos, a mobile, web, and OTT platform for churches to help their members practice spiritual fitness and experience meaningful community.

Job requirements

What we’re after:
  • 10+ years in software development and front-end engineering with a passion for building world-class software.
  • Significant experience in React & React Native and iOS & Android platforms.
  • A fundamental understanding of design principles and how they impact product.
  • Demonstrated ability to rely on an iterative process to maintain momentum on projects: our work is never going to be perfect, and we expect you to be able to prioritize what matters most in order to consistently and efficiently iterate and continuously deliver valuable working software.
  • Enthusiasm for the entire product development process, especially in creating innovative solutions for church engagement platforms like Apollos, which spans mobile, web, and OTT products.
  • We are after someone who embodies our mission to "Rapidly Unlock Value for Good People with Meaningful Ideas," and who will thrive in a culture of collaboration and ego-free communication.

Responsibilities of this position include:
  • Deep understanding of our users, their problems, and needs. You will prioritize these insights to create empathetic and effective solutions.
  • Putting the user — and their problems/needs — first in order to create and drive empathy for the solution you’re building
  • Strong ability to translate design sketches, wireframes, or high-fidelity mockups into fully functional, immersive mobile applications using React Native.
  • Maintaining development workflow with Github
  • Passion for working closely with a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, and developers to bring software products to life.
  • Proven experience and expertise in writing modern, maintainable React Native applications that are well-documented and tested.
  • Maintaining clear and consistent communication using tools like Basecamp, Slack, and video calls.
  • Rely on an iterative process to maintain project momentum, ensuring continuous delivery of valuable working software.
  • Proven ability to lead by example, setting high standards for quality and speed in an environment that can be fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous.
  • Incorporate feedback effectively into your work to refine and enhance the product.

Candidates must be based in the United States and be available during standard business hours for team meetings. Specific times vary based on team timezone preferences. There is flexibility in working hours, but there is an expectation to be able to regularly attend team meetings.
