About
THE CHURCH
With an average attendance of 900 people and a location in one of the fastest-growing regions
in the country, Element Church is poised to make an impact not only in Cheyenne but
throughout Wyoming, the Front Range, and the Mountain West. As one of the state's largest
churches, God is uniquely positioning Element to lead the way in transformative worship.
Element was founded in 2007 when Pastor Jeff Maness was sent from Gillette, Wyoming, to
start a new church partnered with the Evangelical Church’s Western Conference. He boldly and
faithfully moved to Cheyenne to plant a church with such an impact that the community would
miss them if they ceased to exist!
The first public meetings were in a theater, and in 2008 Element moved to its current location
at 600 E. Carlson. In 2013, the building was remodeled into its current format. Element has
always had the heart to reach those that others couldn’t, with an emphasis on serving the
community, relatable and bold preaching, and an attractive Sunday morning worship
experience.
The Element Food Pantry began in 2019 and has grown into a weekly service relied upon by
the community. Almost 300 families a week receive food with no strings attached!
The Outreach ministry has made a mark with events like the Back to School Bash, the takeover
of the town prayer at Easter 2020, I Heart Cheyenne Week, and many more. We truly are a
church that our community would miss!
The I Heart Wyoming initiative was born to expand this vision of reaching our community. We
take an annual offering and steward grants to other churches for their outreach events. In the
last year, we helped a ministry on the Wind River Native American reservation finish their
shelter for women fleeing domestic violence, helped a youth group build a program called
“The 5th Down” in Ten Sleep, and much more!
In May 2022, Buz Hannon was called to be the next Lead Pastor of Element Church, officially
beginning in August. The Lord is using Buz’s passion for discipleship and pastoral care and his
deep commitment to teaching the Word of God to compel Element into a new season of
growth and impact in Cheyenne. Buz holds two degrees from Oral Roberts University and
one from Gateway Seminary. He’s passionate about teaching, training, serving the church,
barbecuing, soccer, board games, and the science of humor.
