Remote Full Stack Engineering Manager

Overview
Salem Church Products (SCP), a division of Salem Media Group, operates a network of e-commerce websites that equip church leaders and pastors with resources to help do the work of ministry. Our websites offer products to churches, which include professional digital resources for worship, sermon preparation, children’s ministry, and staffing solutions. We are passionate about equipping local churches and the leaders that serve them.
About this Role:
Salem Church Products (SCP) is seeking a Full Stack Engineering Manager to lead the growth and maintenance of our tech stack, including the integration and optimization of Shopify as a key e-commerce platform. The ideal candidate will provide strategic insight and a holistic view for our architecture and technology roadmap with a desire to pursue innovative solutions. They will provide oversight of the day to day responsibilities of our development teams and daily collaboration with our technology partners by instilling a culture of engineering and operational excellence.
This person must be curious, collaborative, a problem solver, flexible, willing to learn from all levels of our fast-paced organization, and interested in pursuing new ideas while defending best practices, a high level of communication, and team culture.
The technology needs of our network of 10 websites are constantly evolving and is in the beginning stages of a significant transformation. This role will be instrumental in informing our research & development efforts as we work to unify our sites onto new platforms like Shopify, using both third-party software and custom applications.
This management position will lead our team of skilled developers to achieve our technology initiatives while closely collaborating and communicating with operations teams. In addition, they will be responsible for managing the technical components of our third-party systems integrator relationship.
This position offers a flexible work environment including the option work hybrid or remote.
Compensation
Compensation
Annual pay range is $110,000 – 125,000.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a talented team of in-house web and DevOps engineers, guiding and supporting their work through iterative development.
- Collaborate with management and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Design, develop, and optimize technical solutions across a full-stack of technologies.
- Evaluate third-party software, platforms, frameworks, and other resources to determine the roadmap for migrations and optimization of our tech stack.
- Encourage innovation within our teams, thinking creatively to find the right solutions to meet business needs.
- Liaise with external development partners to ensure projects meet SCP’s requirements and are delivered on time.
- Maintain high standards for web performance, usability, and scalability.
- Champion clear and efficient communication.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong skills in Liquid, Shopify’s templating language, and experience with Shopify APIs
- Proficiency preferred in any of the following: C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET, REST API design patterns, front-end web technologies, and/or JavaScript
- Abilities in multi-tiered architecture and knowledge with SQL on SQL Server and MySQL platforms
- Proven ability to manage e-commerce projects and implement best practices in site structure, page construction, user experience, navigation, and content
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with individuals with varying levels of technical expertise
- Proven leadership experience
