Salary Description
$70K - $85K

About the Role

This person will be responsible for planning, soliciting, and publishing content on our blog and social platforms. This individual will work on the Content Marketing Team, which creates content that attracts new leads and nurtures them with relevant, rich, and engaging content throughout the customer journey.

Responsibilities 
  • Work alongside internal teams to fine-tune and maintain a clear and consistent brand voice across all content.
  • Manage our social media content on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and X. 
  • Partner with the People Team to produce and publish relevant content on LinkedIn.
  • Explore new opportunities for engagement and relationship building (either as brand or brand representative) in niche communities like X communities, subreddits, and Facebook groups.
  • Partner with Customer Success to field questions and comments we receive through social channels.
  • Serve on the Word by Word Editorial Team, building relationships with and sourcing/contracting great writers.
  • Pitch articles and ideas at the fortnightly editorial meeting.
  • Provide developmental edits to thought leadership and SEO articles, ensuring the content meets our guidelines and is appropriate for publication on Word by Word
  • Create engaging and effective content to capture new eyeballs, build authority and trust, and nurture our existing base.
  • Guest blog (as availability allows) on well-known sites in our space and take interviews with podcasts to help build brand awareness and create quality backlinks. 
  • Collaborate with the Senior Editor of Digital Content to create short, easily digestible content for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook using our AI video tool, Opus Clip.
  • Stay up to date on content marketing trends and best practices.

Who you are
  • A writer. You care about sentence structure, strong verbs, and the Oxford comma — and you have devoured many books on writing.
  • Engaging. You are comfortable in front of an audience and behind a pen. You can quickly think on your feet and exude a trustworthy, likable confidence.  
  • Experienced. You must be experienced in Christian biblical studies and/or theology and an experienced writer (it’s okay if you’ve never written in a marketing capacity before—that can be learned).
  • Fast. We move quickly. Very quickly. You’ll need to be able to keep up. The team will be counting on you to deliver on time.
  • Entrepreneurial. You thrive in a fast-paced culture and constantly seek new problems to solve. You’re hungry for data, you learn quickly from failure, and you can quickly pivot strategies.
  • Ambitious. You have the grit to overcome roadblocks, are a self-starter, and are determined to achieve the next goal.
  • Collaborative. You have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. You are skilled in working within a cross-functional team and can effectively communicate and champion ideas across all levels of the organization.
  • Creative. You love thinking outside the box, and constantly ask “what if?” and “how about?”
  • Skilled. You have exceptional writing and editing skills and can adopt the style, tone, and voice of various types of content if needed.
  • Team player. You are an excellent utility player, able to provide backup support for copywriting or copy editing tasks.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in communications
  • Excellent understanding of the needs of pastors, seminary students, and committed Bible studies
  • Experience building and growing community
  • Experience in B2B and B2C communication
  • Preferred: Seminary educated and already familiar with Logos
