Remote Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications

The SDMC will have responsibility for ensuring the development and implementation of the Marketing/Communications/Public Relations strategies of the organization. In so doing, the SDMC will oversee the voice and brand of Open Doors US (ODUS), ensuring all communications and marketing materials maintain brand integrity, the brand promise of connection and help implement the marketing/communications/public relations strategies of ODUS. The SDMC will ensure ODUS content is compelling and engaging, produce materials to aid marketing goals and drive results in social media, website and email newsletters. The SDMC has budget and managerial responsibilities in overseeing the ODUS Marketing & Communications functions.

$70,000 - $100,000 per year
Job Duties:
- Understand the current OD brand, identity and mission, while crafting and cultivating it for a growing audience in the US;
- Create and implement communications strategies that engage and connect the American church with the needs of persecuted followers of Jesus while building brand awareness, loyalty and donor satisfaction;
- Strategize with Associate Director of Marketing and other organizational stakeholders on content ideas and cadences;
- Create a variety of written assets, including (but not limited to): direct mail copy; website articles; video scripts; email copy; magazine content; social media copy; devotional/reflective articles (think pieces); op-eds;
- Work closely with Associate Marketing Director to synthesize marketing and communication strategies and plans;
- Ensuring timeliness and excellence in all related deliverables, the SDMC will collaborate and provide oversight of third-party contractors (or the staff overseeing those contractor relationships) focused on direct mail, video projects or other needs;
- In partnership with organizational stakeholders, aggressively pursue data sets to help guide marketing and communications plans,
- Adapt and execute the global thematic content plan for the US market;
- Manage and maintain a growing team aligned to organizational mission and values;
- Recognizing the unique needs of various donor segments, provide editorial oversight of all print, digital, social media and email communications, ensuring branding and mission are consistent throughout;
- Understand the Open Doors supporter persona, and craft content strategies to involve and grow that supporter audience;
- Work across cultures with other development communications and ODI experts to build cross-organizational processes;
- Strategize next steps to grow engagement with the Open Doors brand across the landscape of American Christianity.
Requirements:
- Strong personal faith that aligns with Open Doors’ statement of faith
- A love for the local church and the global Church
- Eagerness to work with a global ministry across denominational and cultural lines
- Passion for the work of strengthening persecuted Christians
- Strong skills in editing, writing, copywriting and/or copyediting
- Strong understanding of digital analytics and audience data, with a proven track record of data-driven decision making
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications or equivalent
- 10+ years experience in communications, journalism, publishing or content production
- Experience in a non-profit or fundraising environment
- Deep knowledge of the American evangelical landscape
- Strong knowledge of all current social media platforms
- Awareness and understanding of email platforms
- Grasp of various CMS systems and a willingness to learn new platforms
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products
- Skills in HTML, video production, audio production, and non-English language mastery would be considered a bonus
- Existing networks within the Christian church, publishing, music, creative, social media and design worlds is considered a plus
