Summary
To serve the members and staff of Samaritan Ministries International (SMI) by creating design solutions that our members want, trust, and enjoy. This is achieved by discovering and understanding the problems that need solved, exploring and iterating around possible solutions, testing assumptions with our members and staff, executing designs through HTML & CSS, and mentoring other designers.

Starting Pay Range: $69,300-$86,600. Starting pay is based off of qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Developers, Designers, and Researchers, among others, to explore and implement a quality user experience across multiple teams throughout all stages of the design process.
  • Recommend, plan, and assist with user research, turning insights into actionable solutions.
  • Establish Samaritan UX design standards and form solutions that drive design consistency and unity.
  • Deliver wireframes, prototypes, and other design documentation for design solutions; clearly present and articulate design decisions.
  • Work closely with product team on all design and experience elements of the product lifecycle
  • Maintain a working knowledge of design software, latest design trends, and leading practices.
  • Facilitate design workshops and ideation sessions to help teams discover and deliver the best possible solutions.
  • Mentor other designers and lead discussions around process and quality improvements.
  • Organize design critiques to solicit feedback and improve design
  • Contribute to the growth of our Design System, working closely with other design and development collaborators.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Four-year degree from an accredited university or the equivalent combination of education and experience.(Preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience designing and building products for mobile/web experiences.
  • 2+ years of working in a Scrum development environment.
  • UX Certified (Preferred)
  • Staff are required to possess applicable knowledge to bring value to SMI in this role, know and utilize resources well, ask questions to ensure full understanding. gain and retain knowledge to keep up with changes, and accept and engage with training to grow knowledge for current and future responsibilities.
  • Must have good English and communication skills.
  • Must be able to create beautiful, high-fidelity designs using Figma (Advanced), Adobe CC, or other related prototyping tools.
  • Must be proficient in HTML and CSS (Intermediate); curious in React.
  • Must be knowledgable in Usability Heuristics and UX Design Principles.
  • Must be able to plan and conduct various quantitative and qualitative user research studies.
  • Must be able to create and maintain design systems and pattern libraries.
  • Must have the ability to challenge existing policies in favor of the user experience.
  • Must have initiative and be able to work independently.
  • Must have ability to handle multiple ongoing projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to present complex information in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to think clearly, strategically and analytically.
  • Must be willing to grow in skills, knowledge, and capability, in line with goals agreed upon with Manager.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
 
Additional Information
  • Tasks are normally conducted in a regular office environment, requiring use of computer and mouse and other standard office equipment. Staff usually remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Staff will observe safety principles while performing the duties of the position
  • Staff will be required to travel and have a valid driver's license.
  • May need to lift and move items up to 35 lbs on occasion
